Having even at all of the great steakhouses in the Atlanta metro (Bones, RC, Mortons, et al), I had never made it to the Capital Grille in my three years living here. I thought it would be a great opportunity to try another great restaurant in Atlanta. Boy was I wrong.

I had a reservation for 7:45PM. Upon arrival, I valeted my car. My date and I took the elevator to the 8th floor, and checked in on time. We were told that they were very busy and that there would be a slight delay. It looked a little busy, so I said that it was fine. I had no problem waiting about five minutes (I know I had a reservation, but I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt).

My date and I waited and talked and luckily the time passed. When 8:00PM rolled around, I noticed that some people were clearing out, and I thought I would say something at 8:10 if we still were not given our table. At 8:10PM (25 minutes after my reservation time), I asked if I could get a status update. I was told that I would still have to wait “a bit”, and when I asked what “a bit” was, I was told at least another 15-20 minutes (as in 40-45 minutes after my reservation time…at a minimum). I promptly left and took my business to another restaurant that maintains a commitment to their clients.

Needless to say that I will never take a date, a client, or anybody to this restaurant. They will earn no money from me, and when asked about “top restaurants” from visiting clients, I will advise them to avoid The Capital Grille at all costs. 5 minutes late is doable….a minimum of 40-45 minutes is a gross error and a sign of poor management.
