Richard Wilt, formerly of Roswell’s Inc. Street Food and Salt Factory has opened up a fantastic new restaurant in Woodstock called Century House Tavern. Century House Tavern is located in historic downtown Woodstock. The historic home was once known as the Hubbard House, built in 1894 and occupied until 2004. They’ve done an excellent job fusing the modern touches while keeping the historic look of the house.
The menu is divided into bites / charcuterie, soups/ salads, small plates, sandwiches and mains. We started with a crispy bacon with soy glaze. The salty bacon mixes nicely with the slightly sweet soy chili sauce. There’s also a charcuterie plate, great for sharing. With a mix of quality meats, local and Italian cheeses and pickled vegetables it is another starter perfect for sharing.
The three soups offered (Lobster, onion and creamy mushroom) are equally tasty. The lobster, with a spicy chili oil was quite filling. However, the wild mushroom soup with a slight creaminess would be my go to soup on a cold winter day.
Small plates average $9 each, but are quite generous portions. The Skirt Steak Skewers are served with herbed fries. The Scallops were the best dish we sampled, served over parsnip puree with braised greens, bacon and a truffle foam.
Do save room for the chocolate cake. The huge slice could easily be shared by three or four. Unfortunately, reservations are not accepted at Century House Tavern.

Next on our downtown Woodstock tour was Ice Martini Bar, just steps away from Century House Tavern. The sleek blue and silver interior is definitely fitting for a date night or girls night out. The offerings are a mix of martinis, sushi, tapas and decadent desserts. It is all courtesy of husband and wife team, Fuyuhiko and Lisa Ito.
Chef Ito, formerly the executive chef of MF Buckhead, originally hails from Japan, is French-trained and has worked in high-end sushi bars in both the U.S. and Japan. Chef Ito incorporated many traditional sushi rolls into the menu, while also creating several signature rolls like the ICE Roll. He also created an array of tapas that include items such as Baked Crème Mussels, Sweet Pork Belly over Arugula Salad, and Teriyaki Beef and Onion Sliders.
Trek out to Woodstock and start with a delightful gastronomic dinner at Century House Tavern and head over to Ice Martini Bar afterward to round out your evening with a fancy martini.
