Finally had the chance to sample what some would argue are some of the best doughnuts in Atlanta. Sublime Doughnuts is located in Midtown off of 10th street. After a fabulous Thai lunch at Spoon, I decided to pop in to Sublime Doughnuts and put my Scoutmob to use. You have until 5/20 to use your Scoutmob.
Sublime Doughnuts was started by Atlanta resident, Kamal Grant. After studying at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, Grant soon found his calling to be making pastries. In fact, the Sublime Doughnuts Grant churns out are so delicious, they are more like pastries than any doughnut you’ve ever eaten. Grant even goes so far as to say, “We are trying to go for someone’s last meal on death row.” What I’d like to know, is how he is able to resist eating everything he makes, as I know I’d be tempted.
I sampled six different types of doughnuts on my visit to Sublime Doughnuts. The Dulce de Leche, A-Town, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, Strawberry N Cream, Orange Dream Star and Chocolate Mint. Each one is distinct and it would be nearly impossible to pick a favorite. If you are fan of jelly doughnuts, I’d give the Strawberry N Cream a try. Made with real strawberries, it’ll blow you away. The A-Town, more like eating and eclair than a doughnut was another standout as the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.
