Chef Lance Gummere gets you to eat your veggies!
I’ve been sitting on this post for a while, and thought it was high time I finished it. I first visited The Shed at Glenwood last summer for a tasting of their summer menu.
Immediately, I was a fan. But I also noted they have affordable specials weekdays that really make it worthwhile to visit. My original intent was to visit on Wednesday: slider night. They feature different types of sliders each Wednesday whether that be chicken, pork, beef, etc for a measly 3 bucks. And these are no wimpy sliders – they are large and full of meat.
However, it worked out that my dining companion could only make it on Thursday: Harvest night (4 veggies for $10). Never one who would choose veggies over meat, I was a little disappointed. But all was not lost.

We started off sharing the scallop sliders. These are 2 sliders filled with large fried scallops topped with jalapeno slaw and spicy mayo. Maybe not 3 bucks, but they were absolutely delicious. Satisfied that I had something non-vegetarian, we decided to to take advantage of the 4 for $10 deal.

For our 4 sides we chose sunchokes, asparagus, squash and onion rings. Portions weren’t huge but with an appetizer and 4 to share, it was plenty filling for 2. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like, but my absolute favorite were the sunchokes. If you have never heard of sunchokes, they are also known as Jerusalem Artichokes, read about them here. To me, they tasted like a cross between a potato and an artichoke. More restaurants should serve these.

With room for dessert, we settled on the a berry-topped cake to share. I thought it was decent but could have skipped it altogether and been pretty satisfied with my dining experience. Besides the glasses of wine which we paid for at the bar, the total price per person for all including tip was $20. What a bargain.
