There are about 4 Provino’s Italian Restaurants throughout the metro area. I’ve only eaten at the Provino’s in Kennesaw which used to be a Rio Bravo. You would never know Provino’s was once a mexican cantina. When they remodeled the completely changed the look of the place.
I’ve had their eggplant parmasean, chicken parmasean as well as Red Snapper Francese. I couldn’t complain about anything. The sauce is incredible and I have to say I appreciate the fact that they don’t bring me the obligatory side of spaghetti that I’m not going to eat anyway. They focus on the main dish and prepare it so well that I don’t miss not having the pasta part of the dish.
I really like that they have a large seafood menu. Any seafood lover can appreciate the fact that Provino’s has 9 seafood dishes on their menu. You have fish, scallops, shrimp, clams and mussels to choose from.
If you are really feeling hungry, have one of their pasta dishes. These are larger portions and you will most likely be taking leftovers home with you. My personal favorite is the Zita Al Mundo. This is tube past a with sausage, beef, ricotta cheese which is baked. It is very filling. My only complaint is it needs to have just a bit more meat, way too heavy on the pasta side.
Every meal comes with garlic rolls and salad (shared family style). The salad is really good, so don’t skip it just because it comes with the meal. It has a mushrooms, onions and beets in it. And the Italian dressing they use is superb, not overly thick or oily.
