Hemingway’s located in the historic Marietta square has been there for about 15 years. It is supposed to be a tropical restaurant and bar, but it really has a mix of all different types of foods. Hemwingway’s has soups, salads, sandwiches, and entrees.
I’ve been to Hemingway’s twice. Once 10 years ago and again today. I was not anymore impressed today then I was 10 years ago. I really only chose to eat here because I went for the free museum day at the Marietta History Museum. As it was such a nice day, I wanted to sit outside. I had gone to the square with intentions of going to Efes, but I liked the outdoor seating at Hemingways’ better. So, I decided after all these years I’d give Hemingway’s another try.
Glen and I had a big breakfast so we really weren’t that hungry. We decided to get a pitcher of beer and share and entree. One pitcher of Sweetwater 420 = $15, or individual glasses for $5 each. For an entree we chose the coconut shrimp. We should’ve just ordered the appetizer and here’s why:
$6.95 Appetizer = 6 coconut shrimp
$10.95 Entree = 8 coconut shrimp and 1 side
To me, everything tasted like and looked like it had been reheated. Not only the coconut shrimp but the french fries that came with other diners’ entrees looked the same. The potato salad we had was ok but nothing special. Service was fine, I just don’t think that meal was worth 30 bucks.
